Revising is Unavoidable (belevie me, I've tried)

"There is no such thing as good writing, only good rewriting.” –Robert Graves

Revision is a dreaded, but extremely necessary, process in writing. I am the first to admit that I am a perfectionist and expect my writing to be flawless the first time. In my freshman year of high school, I avoided revising at all costs, but I quickly discovered that “there are no shortcuts to good writing,” in the words of Dr. Fullman.

In addition to catching sentences that serve no purpose in the paper, revising also gives writers the opportunity to tweak their paper’s order, include additional evidence for claims, develop a more specific thesis, and more.

Rewriting is an important part of any paper and is essential to becoming a better writer.

 Write, revise, and revise again.
